With just over 12,500 students, SDSU is the largest university in South Dakota. Established in 1881 as a land grant university, SDSU currently has over 200 programs—many recognized nationally—and is one of the top 20 universities in the nation for online learning. Students come from all 50 states and over 70 countries.
Now in the 5th year of our relationship, we have partnered with the University in several campaigns that have shared the breadth and prestige of the University’s programs. We’ve also adopted a branded house mentality to unite three key divisions at SDSU: Continuing and Distance Education, University Marketing & Communications and Traditional Undergrad Admissions. The result? Record-high enrollment and a house that’s looking nice and playing nicer.
SDSU’s most recent campaign “Ready to Impact” goes beyond the national recognition of the University to tell the story of how its undergraduates and online students are prepared to make an impact throughout the region and the world. Prominently featuring the SD logo in blue and gold, the campaign’s bold look and aggressive messaging share the story of a university empowering its students in a wide range of fields. Because at SDSU, impact doesn’t start when you graduate. It starts the moment you join this community.
At the Admissions level, the “Ready to Impact” campaign utilizes dramatic landscape shots, narrative portraits as well as stirring anthem language to communicate the promise of SDSU. Clear and compelling lines about being “ready” carry throughout pieces, creating a sense of direction and purpose that prospective students and their parents can latch onto.
SDSU’s “Ready” campaign highlights the institution’s nationally recognized programs by revealing how they prepare students in concrete ways to influence their world, both before and after they graduate. The headlines selected for outdoor boards were then carried through other materials, so audiences developed a deeper understanding of SDSU and a deeper connection with its students.
The energy of the “Ready to Impact” campaign is driven by students in action. Education at SDSU is about so much more than the classroom. It’s about innovation: discovering real solutions for real problems in the real world. Because at SDSU, impact doesn’t start when you graduate; it starts the moment you arrive on campus.
There is nothing more powerful than seeing the opportunities of SDSU through the eyes of its students. This spot connects the personal stories of students and faculty with a defining characteristic of the University that gave them the chance to learn and grow.
