One might compare Pete to Silent Bob. Neither speaks much, but when they do, it means something. On the other hand, a movie about Pete would actually be entertaining, since Pete is actually funny, and his words actually do mean something. Actually.

From Walt Whitman by way of Pete Lounsbury:

This is what you shall do: Love the earth and sun and the animals, despise riches, give alms to every one that asks, stand up for the stupid and crazy, devote your income and labor to others, hate tyrants, argue not concerning God, have patience and indulgence toward the people, take off your hat to nothing known or unknown or to any man or number of men, go freely with powerful uneducated persons and with the young and with the mothers of families, read these leaves in the open air every season of every year of your life, re-examine all you have been told at school or church or in any book, dismiss whatever insults your own soul, and your very flesh shall be a great poem and have the richest fluency not only in its words but in the silent lines of its lips and face and between the lashes of your eyes and in every motion and joint of your body.

Pete is a man of many achievements. Even though they’re all equally impressive and there is no best one, here’s an example anyway: Pete defeated the smartest girl in fifth grade in the spelling bee. Afterward, she cried in the hallway, telling her mom, I got beat by the dumb kid.

Clearly, the girl was mistaken about who the dumb kid was. I got beat by the dumb kid? What kind of grammar is that? Poor, that’s what kind.

With many years of designing and design schooling behind him, Pete has two kinds of credibility: experience (this assures strangers he’s good), and talent (this proves to everyone he’s good).

Pete has one wife (Stacy) and two kids (Evan and Kristen), and takes pleasure in biking, camping, kayaking, and shoveling snow.

But he hates balloons. Not hot-air balloons, but normal party balloons. Hates them.
